Arrest Made During Santa Claus Parade 12-36677

Kingston Police wish to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience during one of the busiest Santa Claus parades in the cityís history. Over 60 persons, including Kingston Police officers, members of the Kingston Police Community Volunteers, and students from the St. Lawrence College Police Foundations program assisted with the safe and efficient traffic and pedestrian control during the parade.

One incident of particular interest occurred during the parade at approximately 6:00 p.m. where a citizen informed a Kingston Police officer of a male walking up Princess St, possibly intoxicated, and telling children that Santa Claus didnít exist. Officers located the male at Princess St and Macdonnell St, fitting the unique description of having his hair formed to look like horns that were protruding from his head. The 24-year-old Kingston male was identified and arrested for the criminal charges of Causing a Disturbance by Being Drunk and Breach of Probation. Additionally he is facing a Liquor Licence Act offence of Public Intoxication. He was lodged in cells for the evening to attend a bail hearing the following day.
