Individual arrested after weapons incident downtown.

On May 8, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m. Kingston Police received a report of a shoplifting incident occurring at a business located on Princess Street between Montreal Street and Bagot Street.

 

An individual entered a business located on Princess Street and was observed attempting to shoplift from the business. Upon being approached by a loss prevention officer the individual brandished an edged weapon before fleeing from the store.

 

Officers quickly responded and located the individual on Montreal Street between Princess Street and Queen Street. The individual initially attempted to resist arrest by struggling with officers however was ultimately arrested without further incident.

 

A 49 year old Kingston individual was charged with Robbery, Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace, Assault with a Weapon, Utter Threats, Resist a Peace Officer and four counts of Breach of Probation. They were transported to Kingston Police Headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.
